Description: I've raised these for about 8 years now on my farm. I feed them all of my farm wastes (straw, hay, manure) and use all of the castings on my fields and trees around my home. If you're thinking about getting into vermicomposting, my worms will get it done for you. Red wigglers are very voracious eaters and quite resilient. I over winter them outdoors and they're always waiting to go again come spring. By far my favorite worm to raise. I take orders throughout the week and ship on Mondays in order to keep anything from being held up in the post office or on delivery trucks over the weekend. I take my last order for the week Sunday at 5pm eastern time. I like to ship in washed clothing as they breathe well for shipping and don't create any unnecessary waste. After all, this is the concept of raising composting worms. These are bed run worms meaning there will be all kinds of different sizes in a shipment as most worm farms do. Ive worked VERY hard to keep my species clean and uncontaminated with any other species. These will be purely red wigglers. Note-worms will have shrunk in size during shipment as they are shipped without food. This is very common and helps eliminate spoilage. Within a few days with adequate room and bedding they will grow back to full size. If you've read this far, I'd like to say I very much appreciate the business and the support for a small farmer. I cannot thank you all enough and hope you enjoy vermicomposting and agriculture every bit as much as I do!
