Description: Here is one of a rare collection of Wedgwood plates picturing historic Episcopal churches in New Jersey. The full listing of available plates is shown below. I will be separately listing all of these plates today - collect the whole set, or fill in your existing collection. This plate is: Trinity & St. Philip's Cathedral, Newark, NJ Should you wish to purchase multiple plates, combined actual shipping always applies. Due to eBay's immediate payment requirement, excess shipping will be refunded to you as soon as actual packed dimensions and weight are determined. Information common to all plates: Mulberry transfer ware. 10 3/8" in diameter. The center contains a drawn image of the named church. The floral surround contains 4 emblems, one of which is the seal of New Jersey. The symbols at 3 and 9 o'clock indicate the Episcopal Diocese of Newark and of New Jersey, respectively. The emblem at 12 o'clock is the seal of the American Episcopal Church. Each underside names the pictured church and origination date. All have the signature of the artist (Paul Mathews with the exception of the Trinity Cathedral Newark plate, which is signed by Wilson R. Stearly). Undersides have printed hallmark as follows: "Wedgwood ~ Etruria ~England" and "Sole Importers ~ Jones McDuffee & Stratton Co.~ Boston ~ {image of a Lion on raised platform with orb in paw}. Additional impressed hallmarks are "Made in England", "Wedgwood" and "SL34". The SL34 means these were produced in 1934. Please note the last 4 border photos are of a different plate (from St. Peter's Church, Amboy). These photos are for close up info only as the borders and emblems on all plates are identical. On the underside, light crazing without discoloration. Colored transfers are intact, with good color and without scratches or erosion. No chips, flakes, breaks, mends, repairs, cracks, hairlines, blemishes, or mentionable boo-boo's. Don't feel anything amiss when I run finger around edges. No signs of previous repair or restoration. Average unpacked weight: 1 pound, 2 ounces. Always happy to pass through discounts on combined shipping. Please ask me for specific quote if you feel shipping cost is too high. On certain large / heavy packages, I see EBAY's calculator grossly overcalculates actual shipping costs. I only charge actual postage, and always use recycled packing materials. Note some photos appear redundant because I take photos from all possible angles. On symmetrical items, these photos may appear redundant when there are no distinguishing differences or condition issues between side views. The item listed is being sold as is, as pictured and as described to the best of my knowledge. If you have a question on an item prior to purchase, please ask. Remember, when buying vintage expect imperfections as these items have a history and have been in the possession of others. I try to list EVERY flaw which would be commented on something in an antique or vintage condition – this does not mean all imperfections resulting from normal wear & use require comment. My goal is to have no rude surprises upon receipt.
