This auction is for one nice used reel in the original worn old box, reel in excellent original condition, no damage or repairs. These have the factory Quantegy brand label on them. This is a master backup reel and has older retail and shopping mood music on it, professionally recorded by AEI on the finest equipment available at the time. Adams and later Quantegy and then Ampex sometimes did not put their brand name on these reels. Back in the 1960's and 70's Adams and Quantegy reels were sold to government agencies, corporations and institutions for preserving high value audio information and evidence, not usually for retail distribution. The boxes have small identifying labels, and the last 3 of these boxes are in edge-worn condition. These average about 50 minutes of pre-recorded popular commercial, retail shopping and browsing music. Warning, this is NOT 1/4" wide tape, this is half inch wide tape, NOT for most home recorders. So if you have a Teac or Tascam 80-8, an Otari 1/2", or an old Lyrec 1/2" capable, these are for you.These can be used for video or data also. When full, these .001 tapes usually record about 1.5 hours per direction at 7 1/2ips {holding 3600 ft,) I am assuming these are all 7 1/2 ips because some were about 1/2 full and were labeled as having an average of 52 minutes.Most are only labeled with the type of music and total minutes. They are very high quality tape material, all the reels are all 10.5 inches and have been in cool dark storage for at least 10 years and are not sticky, oxidized or brittle. The reel design is unique to Adams and to the later Quantegy and Ampex brands, but is only similar to those made by the operation that became RMG (EMTEC) as indicated by the similarities of online photos.
