Description: '> The stamp count is approximate but very close to exact. At the time of first listing I had 23 lots of these with very similar but not quite identical content. The scan is a typical lot. In 1971, East Pakistan broke away from Pakistan and formed the new country of Bangladesh. Without postage stamps of their own, they authorized the overprinting of Pakistani stamps for use in Bangladesh. This was done on a local level (by government offices, banks, and commercial companies), and hundreds of varieties of this overprint exist. These overprints were authorized from 1971 through 1973.They are not listed in Scott but are mentioned but not listed in Gibbons. There are both regular Bangladesh stamps and Pakistan overprints in this lot.
