It is hollow and has a hole in the end to allow heat to escape during the firing. Egg carton is for size comparison only. It’s not old so it’s not included. I have another dozen eggs for sale in another listing, very similar to these, and if you buy both, I will refund one of the shipping charges. The other dozen includes a cute wire basket.
