Description: Another Wingnut Wings kit offered for sale from my stash/collection, this time a 1/32 Junkers D.1 monoplane fighter. What more can be said about Wingut Wings kits? A labor of love by filmmaker and aviation enthusiast Peter Jackson, the research and planning that went into their kits was almost unmatched, and the kits are well-regarded by modelers and World War One historians alike for their quality, engineering, detail and accuracy. Perhaps the only thing they failed to do was offer their line in smaller scales. Wingnut WIngs' web site was still up last I checked, but you can't actually place an order with them any longer (though I recommend you download their instruction booklets, which are chock-full of photos, detail, color data and information). With luck, perhaps we'll see these kits produced again one day, but until then Ebay and the odd hobby retailer with a secret supply are your best bet for acquiring one. Wingnut's kit of Junker's pioneering all-aluminum monoplane fighter is regarded as one of the best kits of this type (though at least one has recently been released in 1/48 by another manufacturer), which saw brief service near the close of the Great War. Released in 2018 near the end of Wingnut Wings' run, there's a good overview of the kit and its contents on Scalemates here: https://www.scalemates.com/kits/wingnut-wings-32065-junkers-d1--1125138 For a great review and some alluring pictures of the completed model, please check out Spencer Pollard's superb web site here: https://thekitbox.org/2018/06/01/wingnut-wings-junkers-d-1/, or Bernd Willmer's artful build on his web site here: https://artisanmodeler.blogspot.com/2019/05/junkers-d1-wingnut-wings-132nd-scale.html I really kind of hate to let this one go, as it's unusual to find a Great War machine that doesn't require the fiddly spider's web of rigging so typical of airplanes of the era, but I'm getting older and recent life and family changes have impressed on me how short life is, on the one hand, and how large my collection of unbuilt kits is on the other. I bought this kit from my LHS a few years ago when they were having a clearance on the last supplies of Wingnut Wings kits, and it has remained sealed in it's unbroken shrinkwrap (hence the glare off the lid in my poor photo), stored safely in my climate-controlled basement. Obviously, all the sprues, decals, accessories etc. are still in their individual packaging within the kit and remain undisturbed. Although favoring the more experienced modeller, the kit is reputedly an enjoyable build and makes an attractive, accurate and well-detailed replica when completed. All purchased kits are very carefully packed in clean and sturdy materials so that my customers remain happy and my conscience untroubled. I can ship domestically via US Post Office Express Mail or Ground Advantage. I can ship internationally, but I will invoice for shipping in that instance.
