A handful of leaves with small defects or blemishes else a very nice copy, complete with both title pages. ESTC & D&M state that there should be a 1614 general title and a 1615 New Testament title page along with a colophon dated 1615. In this copy both title pages are 1614 and the colophon is dated 1615. Text in gothic black letter in double columns. Part of 'The Genealogies' present, bound in front of the Bible. Some very early MS family history of the Spurgeon family through much of the book. The name "Thomas Spurgeon" appears the most frequently, especially in the Psalms in the back of the volume. Well worth doing additional research . Many Spurgeon Names Bound together with: "Two right profitable and fruitfull concordances, or large and ample tables alphabeticall. The first containing the interpretation of the Hebrew, Caldean, Greek, and Latine words, and names scatteringly dispersed throughout the whole Bible, with their common places following every of them. And the second comprehending all such other principall words and matters, as concerne the sense and meaning of the Scriptures, or direct unto any necessary and good instruction. The further contents and use of both the which tables (for breuitie sake) is expressed more at large in the preface to the reader: and will serve as well for the translation called Geneva, as for the other authorized to be read in churches. Minor marks, blemishes or wear commensurate with age else sound. Bound together with: "The whole booke of Psalmes. Collected into English meeter, by Thomas Sternehold, Iohn Hopkins, and others, conferred with the Hebrew, with apt notes to sing them withall. Setforth and allowed to be sung in all churches...' London: Printed [by Thomas Dawson] for the Company of Stationers, 1615." ESTC ref 006194348. Collates [10], 91, [9]p. Lacks a two leaves and final leaf of prayers else otherwise sound enough. A couple of leaves with wear or losses else sound in the main. Bound in contemporary beveled oak boards with remainders of the original metal corners [4 present to the back and one to the front]. Both of the central metal lozenges are present. Re-backed sometime with raised bands and a new label. Solid and attractive.
