1704/1724 City View/Map of Rimini, Italy by Pierre Mortier after Johannes Blaeu

Description: Offered here is a striking and lovely city view/map of the Italian city of Rimini on the Gulf of Venice. The piece has the following printing along the lower left edge below the image: "Se vend A Amsterdam chez Pierre Mortier Avec Privilege". This city view of Rimini was originally created and published by the Dutch cartographer Johannes Blaeu (1596-1673). Pierre Mortier (1661-1711), also a Dutch cartographer and published of maps, published a reprint of the Blaeu maps of Italy with minor revisions in 1704 in his work, Nouveau Theatre de l'Italie. Another reprint of this work was published in 1724. I do not know if this city view is from the 1704 or 1724 edition. It would be nice to take the map off the backing; perhaps someone out there with more skills than I have could do so. The dimensions of the piece are: height 16 inches (platemark) 21 inches (backing paperboard); width 21 1/2 inches (platemark) 26 1/4 inches (backing paperboard).
