Description: Offered here is a large, striking copper engraving of the French author/poet, Jean Baptiste Rousseau (1670-1741). The engraving was made in 1740 by the French printmaker, primarily known for portraits, Jean Daulle (1703-1763). The print was made after a 1738 portrait of Rousseau by the French artist, Jacques Andres Joseph Camelot Aved (1702-1766). The engraving shows Rousseau, looking comfortably casual, surrounded by books, holding a manuscript in one hand and a quill pen in the other. There is an example of this print in the online collection of the British Museum at No. 1877,0811.697. The dimensions of the sheet are height 22 inches by 15 1/2 inches. This print is from my personal collection which I am beginning to sell off. Please read the condition description carefully and review the photographs. Unless noted otherwise in the description, the prints, art and other items that I sell are not "reproductions". For example, offered maps are of the period. I do my best to accurately describe the items being sold, but if you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me. Please check my other listings for additional items of interest. I will combine shipping.
