1742 RARE 8 BELL MUSIC ROLL SIGNED J JOYCE ELLESMERE GRANDFATHER CLOCK WORKS

Description: Very rare 1742 signed John Joyce Ellesmere Grandfather clock, The movement has a 8 bell train that plays like a music box on the quarter hour and a large bell that strike on the hour. The face has a raised silver chapter ring with Roman numerals with some very ornate engraving. 8 day movement with a beautiful hand painted moon phase calendar, with gold colored spandrels on each corner. The movement has three key winds and three weights, one for the time, one for the strike and one for the musical quarter hour. (Yes it also has a silent mode option) The tallcase is English oak and stands around 86” high or 7’2” The top is a broken pediment style and the original finish is in very good condition especially for being a 280 year piece of history.
