Description: ~~PRINTED IN NEW YORK DURING THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION~~ LettersWritten by the Late Right Honourable Philip Dormer Stanhope,Earl of Chesterfield, To His Son,Philip Stanhope, Esq; Together with Several Other Pieces on Various Subjects Published by Eugenia StanopeFrom the Originals now in Her Possession. The Third EditionVol. IV. [Only] By Philip Dormer Stanhope, Earl of Chesterfield London, Printed:New York: Re-printed by J. Rivington and H. Gaine, ~M,DCC,LXXV.~~ (1775) ~ ************************************************* 12mo. 216 pages. Hardcover bound in early full leather with raised bands on the spine. The binding is quite worn. The foot of the spine is chipped, and the leather label on the spine is missing. The rear hinge is cracking with the split running up about three inches from the foot (although the cords are still holding). The boards are splayed (bowed outwards at the fore edges). Lacks much of the front pastedown, and the rear pastedown has lifted up. The front flyleaf has some early notations as well as a 1911 gift inscription. The first and terminal leaves of the text block are rough at the fore edges, but we see no loss of text and no big chips. The text block is generally sound, and the text is toned and foxed. LACKS SOME TEXT. We're not sure how many pages should be in this volume but the text ends on page 216, and the last line is in the middle of a sentence. So this volume lacks at least one page at the end. A worn copy of a rare book that was printed in New York during the American Revolution. *****************************************We Always Accept Returns if the Item Does Not Match the Description.
