ARTIST/CARTOGRAPHER/ENGRAVER: Engraved by William Watts (1752-1851) and drawn by Sandby. Paul Sandby RA (1731 – 9 November 1809) was an English map-maker turned landscape painter in watercolours, who, along with his older brother Thomas, became one of the founding members of the Royal Academy in 1768. Watts was an engraver and publisher, a pupil of Sandby and Edward Rooker. PROVENANCE: Engraving from Paul Sandby's 'The Virtuosi's Museum, Containing Select Views in England, Scotland, and Ireland', published by George Kearsley , published 1777 - 1783. St. George's castle chapel was originally founded in the 14th century by King Edward III and extensively enlarged in the late 15th century.
