Description: Charles Brockden Brown was an early American writer and editor, often credited as “the first American novelist” although there is some debate on this topic. His favored genre was the Gothic and “Edgar Huntley” falls into this category. The story of a young man looking for the murderer of his friends, this copy is volume one only. The front board is loose as is the rear and there is foxing throughout. The name of an owner has been cut out, first from the bottom of the title page and again on the page stating “to the Public”. Foxing throughout but text is legible and block, solid.
