Description: Original 19th-Century Beautiful Portrait of a ITALIAN ARTILLERY CORPORAL* Professionally Hand-Colorized (Retouched) LARGE SIZE: Visible Photo (Oval Window) is 12.5" x 18.5" Mounted in Original 17" x 23" Antique Wooden Bubble-Glass FrameOriginal Frame Nails and Hanging Cable on Back This portrait is a fantastic example of early retouching/colorization technique. * I purchased this third-hand from an estate, and the only information they had was that the young man was Italian. The experts on a dedicated Militaria forum further informed me that (based on the style and decorations on his uniform) he is an Italian artillery corporal. [ CONDITION... ] - The photo is in lovely condition for its age. It has some small age cracks in the paper near the edges, which are noticeable only on close examination. What is noticeable is a small damaged area at the top of his head. (See close-up photo.) No missing paper anywhere. - The wooden frame is in lovely antique condition. It has some small scratches in the faux grain pattern on the front. Also, there are various chips in the black lacquered area around the edge, which have been repaired/touched up. This portrait is in exceptional antique condition, and it displays very nicely. The above is my good-faith attempt to disclose all noteworthy issues. Keep in mind that vintage/antique items always show their age. (Don't we all!?) It would be impossible to mention every tiny detail, so please expect that there will be something about this item (or lot) that's not perfect and may need touch-up.
