Description: This early strongbox is about 14” by 11’’ by 9” high. It is hardwood case with dovetailed construction and metal reinforcement. The front has a recessed area for a company logo and had two straps with hasps for locks. I believe this was for gold transport by coach or rail with the cast iron floor anchor. It had two separate locks, for added security. The strongbox is in sturdy used condition with an undisturbed surface. There are marks, stains, scuffs, and paint loss. One hasp and a metal strap end are missing; probably the result of a break in. Please look at the photographs as they are considered part of the description.I guarantee it to be old and as described.
