This copy apparently the family bible of Eliphalet Loud, born in 1755 in Weymouth, Massachusetts. Loud records having purchased this bible in 1804. Bound in contemporary sheep with the front board detached. 913, 36 (Psalms in meter), [48] pp. Measures approximately 10" x 8.5". At the front is a map of Palestine during the time of Jesus. There is a frontispiece illustration of a verse from Matthew, and one other plate showing the Woman of Samaria. These appear to be the only illustrations present. There is an extensive Loud family genealogy recorded in the pages provided between the Old and New Testaments, with two other pages laid in also detailing Loud genealogy. Front board detached. Exterior heavily worn. The pages are heavily toned and foxed throughout, with occasional stains. Slight musty odor.
