DATE PRINTED: 1824 SIZE: The printed area including titles is approximately 6.5 x 10 cm (2.7 x 4.5 inches) plus margins with a blank back (v. small). ARTIST/CARTOGRAPHER/ENGRAVER: Engraved by S. Bellin after a picture by F.W.L. Stockdale. Frederick Wilton Litchfield Stockdale (1780—1850) was primarily a topographer, working as assistant to the Military Secretary to the East India Company until, due to ill health, he was compelled to resign. However, despite this, he contributed prolifically to topographical works. Stockdale also exhibited in the Royal Academy. PROVENANCE: Produced for The Cornish Tourist; Or, Excursions Through Cornwall. Published by Simpkin & Marshall, London, 1824. TYPE: Antique steel engraving printed on paper.
