The work is presented alphabetically, in dictionary format.To the recto of the front free endpaper is both a former owner's inscription - 'D. L. Cumming' - and a contemporary owners inscription accompanied by a crest. Dated 1840, the name Perkins accompanies the crest alongside the words appearing to be 'Fumum Et Opis'; 'smoke and power'. To the verso of this page is the inscription 'C. D. Heathcote, Derby, January 11th 1887'. CONDITION In the publisher's original full cloth binding. Some marks to the boards, with bumping to extremities and spine head and tail. Slight rubbing to the spine label. Former and contemporary owner's inscriptions to both recto and verso of front free endpaper. Internally, generally firmly bound. Light spotting to first and last pages only, otherwise clean throughout.
