Description: I have here for sale a large book entitled HISTORICAL AND DESCRIPTIVE ACCOUNT OF THE CATHEDRALS OF SALISBURY, NORWICH AND OXFORD forming Part II of The Cathedral Antiquities by John Britton. It is a first edition published in 1836 by M A Nattali, London. There are a total of 67 b/w plates - 32 for Salisbury, 24 for Norwich and 11 for Oxford. They are a mixture of views from the outside and inside of each cathedral, any extra features like cloisters, gatehouses, tombs etc, and floor plans. Accompanied by descriptive and historical text. Illustrated title pages for each cathedral and a vignette to the title page of the whole volume. Bound in half dark brown calf leather on orange and brown marbled hardboards. 5 raised bands, gilt tooling and lettering to the spine. Slight rubbing to spine and to corners. Marbled endpapers. Pages slightly sunned, foxing to prelims and flyleaf and at intervals throughout. Binding tight. Condition: very good. 114 + 90 + 50 pages, 30 x 24 cm.
