Description: I have here for sale a book entitled THE DOCTRINE OF HOLY BAPTISM: With Remarks on the Rev W Goode's "Effects of Infant Baptism" (First edition) bound with THE DOCTRINE OF THE INCARNATION OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, In its Relation to Mankind and to the Church (Second edition); by ROBERT ISAAC WILBERFORCE published by John Murray, London; John and Charles Mozley, London in 1849. Robert Wilberforce (1802-1857), second son of abolitionist William Wilberforce, was a English clergyman and writer who was active in the Oxford Movement. He wrote three doctrines before turning away from the Church of England to join the Roman Catholic church in 1854. He died in 1857 whilst preparing for his Roman Catholic ordination.Light brown leather boards with a blind stamped decorative design and gilt border. Five raised bands with a black title block, gilt lettering and gilt decoration on the spine. Some scuff marks to the leather. Marbled endpapers and page edges.
