Description: This book is 8-7/8 x 6 inches. It is the the first illustrated edition. It is bound ca. 1920 in full red crushed levant morocco leather by Riviere & Son (stamp-signed on front turn-ins). The covers are triple-ruled in gilt, spines with five raised bands, decoratively tooled and lettered in gilt in compartments, gilt-ruled board edges, decorative gilt turn-ins, top edge gilt, others uncut, dark blue coated endpapers. It has the the original gilt decorated cloth covers bound in at end. It was illustrated by John Leech. It has thirteen hand-colored engraved plates and eighty-four wood engravings . It was published in London by Bradbury and Evans, 11, Bouverie Street 1853. I do not specialize in books, this one has a tight binding, is intact, and the the cover is in good condition. It does have cracking to the leather on top right edge of spine but the binding is solid.
