Description: 1860 edition, published by Firth, Pond, & Co. of I Wish I Was in DIXIE'S LAND by Dan D. Emmett. Emmett was with Bryant's Minstrels when he penned this song in 1859. The South ultimately co-opted/adopted it as their anthem which irritated Emmett to no end. He told a fellow minstrel performer, "If I had known to what use they were going to put my song, I will be damned if I'd have written it." Regarding condition: a few stains/smudges, a little wear and aging here and there but overall in very good shape. The adhesive binding is still going strong as can be seen by evidence of the photos of the interior pages and the actual photos of the binding.
