Description: 1860’s Joe Coburn cdv published by Ulrich 156 Bowery NY. Coburn is a member of the International Boxing Hall of Fame. Coburn was the US Heavyweight boxing champ. He won the title when he beat John C Heenan in 1862. Coburn came out of retirement in 1870 to fight Jem Mace for the World title. Mace ducked the first fight. The second was a draw. Coburn was never declared World Heavyweight Champ, but he challenged most European champs of his era. They all declined. Cdv is about 2 by 4 inch in size. Stains, toning and wear. Chipped corner.
