Description: 1864 BRITISH 1ST MIDDLESEX ARTILLERY VOLUNTEERS ETCHED & NAMED TANKARD. This double handled tankard measures 11 1/2 inches in height. It is made of a non magnetic metal with a glass bottom. The glass bottom is dirty but has survived unbroken and without any cracks. The tankard is etched the following: 1ST MIDDLESEX ARTILLERY VOLUNTEERS PRESENTED BY SERGT HAYNES NO 7 BATTERY FOR THE GREATEST NUMBER OF ATTENDANCES AT DRILL DURING THE YEAR 1864 WON BY LEE WILLARDIn overall good vintage condition showing a few small dents & plenty of age patina. It appears that someone cleaned the area of the etch many years ago as another patina has since formed over it. A unique piece of 19th century British military history worthy of further research!***CHECK OUT MY OTHER LISTINGS & ADD ME AS ONE OF YOUR SAVED SELLERS FOR MORE VINTAGE MILITARIA***I am always happy to combine shipping for multiple items purchased whenever possible.
