Description: Welcome to my listing for:1870 Sister from Cleveland ALS to Edward A. Smith, Warren, OH Druggist (#11) *Edward A. Smith, early Warren, Ohio druggist. His store “E.A. Smith & Co.” opened in 1850 and advertised in 1855 at being located at 5 Main Street, was “burned out at the Great Fire at Warren” April 30, 1860 resumed business as “Edward A. Smith, Druggist and Apothecary” in January, 1861 at 10 Main Street. There was a name change to “Smith’s Drug Store" in 1866. Then later, possibly in 1888, moved to 43 East Market Street, existed from at least 1919 - and possibly beyond. He sat on the Board of Directors of the 1st National Bank in 1882, was very active in the Christ Episcopal church. In 1855, he advertised an offer to buy bounty land warrants from “old soldiers” from the War of 1812, before the market for them would go into decline. Letter from Jennie, a sister from Cleveland - mentions waiting for letter & money. Listened to big generals in town.Showing only minor signs of wear and handling consistent with its age. Expected fold creases from posting. No large tears, or any other major issues. Will display well in your collection. Overall, in good to very good condition.
