It is a book plate from William Cullen Bryant's Picturesque America or The Land We Live In, 3 vol., (New York: Appleton, 1872-4). A facsimile copy of the title page is included for authenticity. It is being sold as a single sheet and is not mounted, matted or framed, basically as seen in the pic. In general, these prints represent the Romantic view that was current in the 19th century often including small figures for scale and emphasizing the sublime and grandeur of nature. Overall, a rare print with some very fine engraved line work and a beautiful design that would frame up beautifully! Size: The image area measures approximately 6 1/2 by 9 1/2 inches (16x24cm) on a 9 1/2 by 12 1/2" (24x32cm) page with a margin all around as seen in the pic. Condition: The print is in Very Good condition for its age, printed on a buff heavy page, with text on the reverse. There is a light mark at the bottom of the margin, otherwise it is very clean.
