Description: Hard to find in this very good condition, this is the American Edition of Blackwood's Magazine for April 1876. There's a tiny spot to the front wrapper. 199 pages plus 4 pages of ads. See photo #2 for complete contents. Some highlights I find include: Part XII of English Army General, politician, and writer George T. Chesney's serial novel, The Dilemma. This is the novel's conclusion. The accomplished English journalist and critic Alexander Innes Shand pens an essay of some note (23 pages) headed "Mountaineering in the Himalayas." This following the publication of four works related to the topic. See photo #4 for a list of them and the opening page of the essay. Lady Margaret Elizabeth Majendie's new story, "1895." This is Part 1 of 2 (28 pages). This is one of her more elusive titles. She was 25 or 26 when this work appeared here. Herbert Cowell reviews Evelyn Ashley's Life of Lord Palmerston. Margaret Oliphant contributes an essay in review of Donald Macleod's two volume memoir of his brother, the Rev. Dr. Norman Macleod, at one time the censorious publisher, among other duties, of the popular monthly magazine, Good Words. Some author identifications above are drawn from the Wellesley Index (I, 144).
