At that time, rule of the Netherlands transferred to Queen Emma as regent for eight years, until his daughter Wilhelmina reached the age of eighteen in 1898. The national currency of the Netherlands was based on the Guilder, or Gulden, until it was replaced by the Euro in 2002. This 10 Guilder coin, minted by the Royal Dutch Mint in 1876 during the reign of King William III, is struck from 0.1947 Troy oz. of .900 fine gold, and measures 22.5mm in diameter.
