Haines Illustrated History Book This beautiful antique copy of "Museum Of Antiquity, A Description of Ancient Life: The Employments, Customs and Habits, the Cities, Palaces, Monuments and Tombs, the Litature and Fine Arts of 3,000 Years Ago" by L.W. Yaggy and T.L. Haines was published in 1882 by Standard Publishing House In New York. This scarce first edition Illustrated historical book contains 180 engravings and provides an overview of ancient life, focusing on domestic life, customs, habits of Egypt, Greece and Italy. It draws from English and German sources, as well as archeological excavations of various historical sites to draw a pictures of life 3,000 years ago, including tombs, palaces, literature and arts of the ancient world. An absolutely fascinating book, richly illustrated and highly detailed, containing 944 pages and measuring 9 1/2" x 7" x 3"The leather covers show some minor wear, but nothing major and the gilt is still bright. The front and rear hinges are cracked (pictured), but the binding is tight and everything is intact. There is a few minor spots here and there, but the pages are otherwise bright and clean with no writing, rips, tears or damage.
