Description: A Pictorial History of the World's Great Nations Vol I, original 1882 volume by a woman author who also wrote novels, Charlotte Mary Yonge. Published by Selmar Hess, New York, Unlike most of the others I see, this large book has a full-leather binding. This volume includes Greek History, Roman History and German History and is packed with 292 pages and is profusely illustrated. Some of my favorites include A Roman Banquet, Sports of Greek Girls, The Wonderful Horse of Troy, Circus Maximus, and The Appia, near Rome. The leather has a little splitting at the top of the spine, and rubbing to the joints, but the binding is still firm. The pages have some brownish spots, especially along the gutters, that may be due to acidic glue being used. See photos.
