Description: In this listing we are offering an exceptionally beautiful & very scarce Hartwig & Vogel tin double vending dispensing mechanical bank. This bank was made to dispense chocolates when operated with coins. This bank was made in Germany. Over many years as a collector of mechanical banks we have seen a wide range of dates mentioned as to when this specific bank was produced. We have seen dates mentioned as early as 1880's & as late as 1915. As our personal opinion we feel it is circa 1890's-1910 or so we have listed that date frame in our title. This bank has five different beautiful & finely detailed very colorful scenes. Included at bottom front is an Egyptian scene of two pyramids, a camel, & two men, & palm trees (probably by an oasis). The top panel has a beach scene with sailboats & trees on shore. One side panel has flowers on a vine & a Japanese farmer working in his field. The other side has flowers on a vine & a Japanese scene with two people outside a house with water in the background. The backside has an island scene in the jungle showing two men picking fruit off of trees & a woman with a basket of fruit on her head. The bottom scene on the back is a Japanese boat scene with five people including a woman in a kimono. The bottom base of the bank has some rust. There is one small area pushed in slightly that has some oxidation at the top of the Egyptian scene. There are some minor areas of age toning here & there. The litho is mostly in wonderful condition & is truly beautiful & very finely detailed!. We do not know whether or not the bank works as it has not been tested since we do not wish to take a chance in harming the bank in any way. So, we are offering the bank as not working since it is untested. The bank underneath the bottom retains the original coin trap (we do not have key), two original glass panes in front, & original tin slide top. From the sound of the bank when it is moved there is either one or two coins inside. This bank is a recent estate find. The bank is 9 1/2 inches tall & the base is 5 1/2 inches long by 3 1/4 inches deep. The weight is 12.9 ounces.
