Description: Very obscure and hard to find logging tool. It appears to be in good working order, moves freely. I don’t claim to know everything about those tools, but I did find the patent diagrams for the patent that was granted in January 28, 1890 to M.O. Smith. That’s about what I know. Please see the patent diagrams and a photo of a different one of the mounted for use in the photos for this listing. Fully disengaged and open measures 23 1/4” long. Seems like it would be perfectly usable today. Pretty cool looking old piece. Thanks for looking.
