Bound in quarter cloth with paper-covered boards. Very scarce. This anthology is comprised of eleven short stories from eleven different authors, focusing chiefly on detective and crime fiction. Also included in the work are two science-fiction stories, with 'The End of All' by Andrew C. Wheeler, writing as Nym Crinkle, and 'A Tragedy of High Explosives' by Brainard Gardener Smith. Comprised of stories by Frank R. Stockton, Franklin Fyles, Joaquin Miller, Maurice Thompson, Ingersoll Lockwood, Edgar Fawcett, Brainard Gardner Smith, Kirke Munroe, Nym Crinkle, Anna Katherine Smith and 'Q'. The US edition substituted the story by 'Q' for a different work by Henry Harland. CONDITION Bound in quarter cloth with paper-covered boards. Externally, excellent, with light bumping and rubbing to the extremities. The odd spot to endpapers and fore edge. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean, with the occasional spot. Ink inscription of Evelyn J. A. Harris to the front blank.
