Description: Rare and Original 1892 hand signed engraving (signed in pencil by the artist J.O. Davidson 1853-1894 Nyack, NY) of the Burning of USS Congress, 8 March 1862. The engraving was printed by C. Klackner in NY. The engraving depicts the burning of the USS Congress after she was attacked by the ironclad C.S.S. Virginia (visible in the background on the right). This was during the American Civil War at the Battle of Hampton Roads. The engraving measures 20 by 31 inches. The condition is solid and the engraving was shrink wrapped to a board when we acquired it. The paper has yellowed somewhat and there is some foxing and one small scrape to the side (See the pictures). We could not find another hand signed version of this in our research. $25 Shipping to the USA lower 48 only. Please check out our other listings. Thank You.
