The BTC was an entity formed to provide a single terminal facility for all railroads entering Boston from the south. Each of the five railroads (Old Colony; New York, New Haven & Hartford; Boston & Albany; New England; Boston & Providence) were equal owners in this terminal. Renovated several times, the station is still in use, with Amtrak and Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority (MBTA) having daily departures; it is also a terminus for bus lines.
