The work of Arthur Wellesley-Bikker, a Birmingham based 'house agent and decorator', who provides a hand drawn and hand coloured illustrated title page to the start of the work.Consisting of sixteen colour plates of British army medals and ribbons, with sixteen blank leaves to the rear.Forty-eight medals and ribbons, issued throughout the commonwealth, are displayed, with a number featuring brief captions. Among those featured are a number of medals issued for Jellalabad, China, and India, the 1856 Victoria Cross and the 1845 Meritorious Service Medal, alongside information on their clasps.A charming personal collection offering insight into the medals and ribbons awarded by the British Army over the course of the nineteenth century. CONDITION In a full calf binding. Loss of leather to back strip head, with rubbing to back strip and board perimeters. Rear joint starting, with board holding firm. Front board tenderly held to the tail only. Internally, firmly bound. Significant spotting and areas of discolouration throughout , most concentrated to first plate, and head of leaves to the rear of the work.
