Description: 1909 T205, Sweet Caporal Cigarettes, "TURKEY" MIKE DONLIN - Seated. NY Giants (Removed from SGC slab) VG: MIKE DONLIN: The lefthanded batting Donlin was considered one of the elite hitters of his time. His .333 career batting average places him 32nd on the all-time list. He could have been much better, but his true love was acting, so he often took partial or full seasons off to perform. He was a member of the 1905 NY Giants World Series Champions who beat the Philadelphia Athletics 4 games to 1. HISTORY: I have been collecting baseball cards for 57 years. I purchased this card and removed it from its SGC slab so I could display it in my card album to enjoy but kept the SGC grading sticker (see photo). CONDITION: The card appears to still be in its SGC graded VG condition that it was in when I put it in my card album 10 years ago, and this is the first time it's been out of my album since then. A firm card, nice color, has a light horizontal crease that runs just under the "NY" on his jersey, minor-to-moderate corner wear. Because of SGC's occasional changing grading standards, I cannot guarantee they would grade this a VG again, but I think most any experienced collector would agree that it is.
