Description: 1912 Extremely rare photograph of Carlisle football star Jim Thorpe as he is seen at practice, showing off his tackling form, as he makes the play on fellow Carlisle star Gus Welch. While Thorpe has his back to the camera, his hair and build is familiar and easily recognizable. The photo is made special as it is a well known image of Thorpe which has been published many times over the years and appears on the Carlisle school official website and full identified as Jim Thorpe. This is the only known vintage example of this photograph and it is being offered here for the first time ever!
