Панафидина" было основано в Москве в 1885 г. Она выпускала дешевые издания произведений русских и зарубежных классиков ("Иллюстрированная библиотека"), учебную, детскую, научно-популярную литературу. А.С. Панафидина издавала однотомные собрания сочинений А.С. Пушкина, Н.В. Гоголя, В.А. Жуковского, И.С. Никитина, М.Ю. Лермонтова, а также серию литературно-критических книг о произведениях Н.Г.
