Published by the United States Department of Agriculture, Forest Service in 1916. The map measures 9 1/2" x 5" folded and 35" x 48" unfolded. It is a "Recreation Map", which states, "This map is issued as a guide to the camper and mountain traveler desiring to make use of the Tahoe National Forest for recreation." On one side is the detailed map, which contains references to game and camping sites in red ink. On the verso is text concerning all aspects of the Forest. The Tahoe National Forest was created by President McKinley's proclamation of April 13, 1899. It consisted of of 1,268,335 acres of California and Nevada land. Prominent on the map is Lake Tahoe (Elevation 6,225'), the largest alpine lake in North America. Very scarce.
