This is an original press photo. Doctor John Brown, Jr., of Toronto, Canada, formerly a Major in the Canadian Army, has just been appointed to succeed Doctor George J. Fisher as the Head of the Physical Department of the Y.M.C.A.'s of North America - his title is: "Senior Secretary of the Physical Department of the Home Work Division of the International Committee, Y.M.C.A." Will have office at International Headquarters, 347 Madison Avenue, New York City. He was supervisor of Military Y.M.C.A. work with the Canadian Army during the war period and served with distinction. He also was a member of the Canadian National Council Y.M.C.A. and at the close of the war was named territorial secretary for the Y.M.C.A. in the provinces of Ontario and Quebec. He is a native of Scotland but has lived in America since childhood. He received his medical degree in New York and was at one time secretary at the 23rd Street Branch of Y.M.C.A. in New York. He acted as principal of playgrounds for three summers under the New York board of education.Photo measures 7.25 x 9.5inches. Photo is dated 12-13-1919.
