1920s SAILFISH Card DELUXE Bread Card D48 Collin Street Bakery USA Magic Color

Description: This fantastic card is one in a series of cards issued by the COLLIN STREET BAKING COMPANY, in the United States.. One was inserted into each package of their brand of DeLuxe Bread The series is designated as series D48 in Burdick’s American Card Catalogue and is entitled “ INVISIBLE COLOR PICTURES” Burdick does not provide a date for this series but I believe it to have been issued in the early to mid 1920’s. There is a Patent date of July 12 1921, held by the Invisible Color Print Crop, of New York City. That company were the ones who came up with the unique printing technique that makes these cards “INViSIBLE”. As the instructions on the back explain the child could brush water over the surface of the card and the previously “Invisible” Colors would appear. The cards feature an illustration with a wide variety topics (including Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts/ Guides). This card is #23 in the series and is titled SAILOR FISH OF THE INDIAN OCEAN. The Card measures 4 ½ inches by 3 1/4 inches approximately . The card does have some corner wear but is free from major creases. I have scanned the front and back of the card fairly large so you can determine the condition for yourself.
