1924 New York University Violet yearbook Schwendler, founder Grumman Corporation

Description: This is a 1924 New York University Album yearbook for Washington Square College. It is 99 years old and in good condition. There are individual photos of graduating seniors, as well as group photos of juniors and seniors Members of the football, baseball, and basketball teams appear in group photos. There is a list of Phi Beta Kappa members, as well as list of members of other societies along with photos. There is an extensive gallery of individual photos of faculty at the beginning of the book. Among notables pictured in the yearbook is William T. Schwendler, whose graduation photo appears on page 121. Wikipedia writes: William T. Schwendler (April 1, 1904 - January 15, 1978 in ) was a founder, chief engineer, executive vice-president and Chairman of the Board of the Grumman Corporation. He and other founders of Grumman had worked together at Loening Aeronautical Engineering until leaving to form their new company in a rented garage in December 1929. The son of a German immigrant father, Schwendler was a 1924 graduate of New York University, where he was one of the school's first students of aeronautical engineering.[In 1956, Schwendler became a trustee of NYU. He was a member of Phi Kappa Tau of fraternity at NYU and is a charter member of the fraternity's Hall of Fame. The book: The yearbook is in good condition. It is 11 " tall and 8" wide. Covers are brown cloth over boards. It is hardcover. Front cover shows " The Violet New York University 1924" in gold. There are 272 pages plus advertising. There are no binding issues, and there are no loose or missing pages. There is corner bumping and a 1 1/2" tear at the base of the spine where spine meets front cover. There is no writing in the book. There is minor foxing on a few pages.
