Description: PRODUCT DESCRIPTION1935 S Texas Centennial Commemorative Half Dollar coin graded by NGC at MS 66 with Green CAC Endorsement. COMMENTSOf all the 1892 to 1954 Classic Commemoratives, the Texas Centennial is one of the most popular and generally commands a premium with all else equal. In fact, because of the storied "Americana" this coin represents, it's one that we personally enjoy as much as any. This 1935-S Texas Commemorative Half Dollar, graded by NGC at Premium Gem and endorsed with a green CAC sticker, is a truly striking piece. This coin showcases impressive, lustrous surfaces with sharp, crisp details on both the obverse and reverse. The toning is particularly attractive, with a lovely amber-gold hue dominating, beautifully accented by a backdrop of icy blue. Additional subtle blends of lilac and lime yellow add complexity and depth to the overall appearance. This combination of colors enhances the coin's eye appeal, making it a particularly desirable specimen for collectors. The CAC endorsement further confirms its high quality, indicating that this coin meets or exceeds the strict standards expected for the grade. Feel free to request other photos and we'd be happy to provide. We shot a set with good lighting characteristics but no filtering or doctoring - all natural photos! About the Texas Commemorative CoinThe Texas Centennial half dollar commemorative coin was minted to honor the Centennial of Texas's independence from Mexico. Early in the administration of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, on June 15, 1933, Congress passed an act to authorize the coinage of silver half dollars "in commemoration of the one hundredth anniversary in 1936 of the independence of Texas, and of the noble and heroic sacrifices of her pioneers, whose revered memory has been an inspiration to her sons and daughters during the past century." This was the first of over two dozen commemorative bills that would become reality during Roosevelt's tenure. The legislation provided that "no more than one and a half million pieces" be created on behalf of the American Legion Texas Centennial Committee, located in Austin in that state.
