Description: This week I'm offering a number of old non-sport cards from various vintage sets. Flags have always been a colorful and popular subject for non-sports sets. There were major tobacco card issues in the Nineteenth Century and early in the Twentieth Century, as well as extensive issues of silks featuring different flags. More recently, Topps issued popular sets of flags in 1956 and in 1963. In 1938, the Wilbur-Suchard Chocolate company issued a set of 29 flag cards, placed as a premium inside their penny chocolate bars. The catch for collectors is that only 28 different cards were distributed this way - kids had to send in for an album to hold the cards, and it would come along with the 29th card (featuring the U.S. flag), which was not available any other way. Obviously, it's possible for patient collectors to put together a 28-card set, but that U.S.A. card is something else again! The set remains very popular with non-sports collectors. This is card depicting the flag of Mexico. It's in very nice shape with some slight corner wear but no creases (see scans for condition), not bad for a card that's eighty years old. This would be a terrific addition to any collection! Payment is via PayPal; shipping is $2.75 for First Class Mail, and postage will be combined for multiple winnings.
