Postmarked April 11, 1941. The sender is Jewish and under the Nuremburg laws was forced to add "Israel" to his name. Many Jews attempting to flee the Nazi regime were writing friends and relatives in the USA in a futile attempt to find refuge here. Rare Judaica postal history cover. According to the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee website, a Charlotte Bendler deposited money for Baruch Goldberg in Vienna to presumably emigrate to the USA. Though I find no record that he actually made it. Very scarce Holocaust Judaica item to have a lengthy letter from a Jew in Germany at this time period. I don't read German.
