Description: Lacking dust jacket which often provides the key clue to determine First Edition. For this book, Identifying characteristics cited for listings of First Edition note two listings of books on the dust jacket, and the wartime statement on the title page. This book has a similar cover to those First Edition listings which show a book, and also to the interior pages which are shown in First Edition listing photos which include the title page and copyright page. No First Edition listing cites a listing of books seen on the inside. So given all that, I will conclude, with reservation due to not having the key Hardy Boy identification reference, the Carpentieri Bibliography, that this is the First Edition. The book is in VERY GOOD CONDITION, with clean textured boards, solid unfaded dark top stain, very little wear to boards, 215 clean and solidly bound age-toned pages (due to paper used during wartime). No interior marks on endpapers or elsewhere, no endpaper cracking, very little evidence that the book has been read. There are two wear issues to note. One, there is a small lean to the right. I will store and ship the book tightly wrapped in shrink in a straightened position. This should help the lean. And two, there is a small tear on the frontispiece leaf - see listing photo. B7
