Description: [ANONYMOUS]. Scotland's Scrap of Paper: Britains Broken Treaty. The Treaty of the Union Between Scotland and England, 1707: the Legal Basis of the United Kingdom of Great Britain.Glasgow. Published by The Scottish Secretariat, Ltd. 1945. Second edition, revised.8vo. 23, [1]p. Original stapled blue wraps. Wraps browned and foxed with small pencil inscription. Pages age toned. Most of the pamphlet is the Treaty of the Union. Followed by a copy of the "Act for Securing the Protestant Religion and Presbyterian Church Government". There are four pages of notes, where the treaty and act are discussed/expanded upon. There is an essay entitled "What validity has the treaty" followed by a short section entitled "Aims of the Union - Real and Professed." This is a Scottish propaganda pamphlet that claims that the Treaty has "never been a sufficient safeguard for the economic, social and cultural institutions and life of the Scots Nation". It is perhaps particularly pertinent at the moment due to the discussions post-Brexit for a second referendum.
