Description: The Prefabricated House: A Practical Guide for the Prospective Buyer by Raymond K. Graff, Rudolph A. Matern, and Henry Lionel Williams, published by Doubleday & Company, Inc. in 1947. This Book is a Hardcover measuring 7" x 10.25" with xii+132 pages.Book DescriptionFrom the dust jacket:What do you know about prefabs? The prefabricated house, called prefab for short, is a house assembled on the site from factory-made units. Compared with the speculative and custom-built houses it offers the buyer a number of potential advantages, but it may also possess certain disadvantages. Whether or not it more nearly meets the requirements of the purchaser depends upon a variety of factors. Some of the questions the prospective buyer needs to have answered are:Does the prefabricator have a better house to offer than the regular builder? Is it as strongly constructed in every respect?Need it look just like a hundred others? Is it as well insulated? Is it as durable? Is it as acceptable for mortgage, insurance, and resale?Does it offer as much opportunity for the incorporation of individual requirements as a speculative or custom-built house? Is the prefab cheaper, and if so, why? What does the prefab offer that the other types of construction do not? What are its limitations? The answers to these questions are all in this book, along with a lot more important information for anyone who is buying a prefab, is thinking about buying a prefab, or who is hoping that a prefab will solve his housing problems.ConditionStated First Edition. This Book is Conservatively Graded in Acceptable Condition.
