Description: This listing is for the softcover book "Old Danish Silver" by Gudmund Boson and Chr. Bøje. This was translated into English from Danish by Ronald Kay and published in 1949. This book has no page numbers but I would estimate there to be around 200 pages. It measures 8 3/4" x 12 1/4". This book pictures well over 400 different items including tankards, beakers, coffee pots, cream jugs, cruets, sugar bowls, tea canisters, tureens, chocolate pots, goblets and much more. Pictured are the works of silversmiths and goldsmiths. From the preface: "In the first section of the introduction Gudmund Borden deals with some aspects of the use of domestic silver and its style and decoration while Chr. Bøje discusses the techniques of the goldsmiths' craft and conditions under which the worked in Denmark. The main part of the book consists of photographs, arranged so far as possible in chronological order, so that the development of each type of article may be traced." Condition: This covers are torn and are completely separated from the inside pages. This was previously part of the Library at the Cincinnati Art Museum according to a stamp on the inside. There are a couple of old prices written in pencil for $10 and $48. Some of the pages were never cut after having been printed and are connected at the top. Please see all of the photos for more detail. Money-back guarantee.
